Review of treatment for chronic diarrhea and leaky gut syndrome at a Korean medicine clinic (recovering after 3 months)

I am leaving this review so that anyone else suffering from diarrhea for months like I did does not have to go through the same ordeal.
I have always had a weak stomach, but my body has completely changed since I suffered severely from a stomach ulcer and enteritis a few months ago. At first, I thought that since it was just enteritis, I would get better quickly if I took medication. I was actually diagnosed with enteritis and took medication several times. The medications changed slightly each time, too. I thought I would get better if I just took medicine, received IV fluids, and rested at the hospital, but after a few times, the diarrhea actually got worse as time went on. At its worst, I went to the bathroom 8 or 9 times a day, and there were times when my stomach would rumble so much after every meal that I had to run to the bathroom immediately. I had heard that I might have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, but I felt the most uncomfortable I have ever been in my life. For a while, I was almost afraid to go out, and I could barely make plans on weekends.
What worried me even more was that my condition wasn't improving, and I kept losing weight. I was already on the thin side, but as I kept losing weight, I had absolutely no energy, and I got exhausted even with the slightest movement. I thought that if things continued like this, something really serious would happen. I hadn't seen much change even after taking medication for a while, so I started looking into various options. I suspected I might have leaky gut syndrome, so I asked my regular internal medicine doctor about it, but they said there wasn't a specific medication for it. However, the symptoms I saw online seemed similar to mine, so I kept searching for related posts. That led me to find a Korean medicine clinic famous for gastrointestinal and intestinal disorders.

While searching, I heard many people say that Director Ryu Bong-ha is excellent at pulse diagnosis for gastrointestinal conditions, so I made an appointment and visited. During my first consultation, his presence was incredible, and he gave a great pulse diagnosis; I immediately felt confident that I could trust him with the treatment. Also, I underwent a gastrointestinal motility assessment—something I seem to be unique to that clinic. It was my first time taking that test, but checking my gastrointestinal motility and listening to the explanation as to why these symptoms persisted helped me understand a bit. Afterwards, I was prescribed herbal medicine tailored to my condition. It helps stimulate the stomach and soothe the intestines...

They told me that food is just as important as medication, so I changed my eating habits significantly and paid a lot of attention to various other things. I felt that I should do that, and I was told it was the right thing to do. I was told to avoid raw vegetables like salads and raw foods like sashimi for a while, and I also avoided spicy foods and alcohol. Of course, I hadn't eaten spicy food or drunk alcohol before, but I still had persistent diarrhea. At first, controlling my diet was difficult, but as I felt the diarrhea decreasing, I naturally started sticking to it. After about a month, the first thing that changed was the frequency of my bathroom visits. I used to rush to the bathroom several times a day, but the frequency gradually decreased, and I rarely had to look for a restroom in a rush anymore. The constant rumbling in my stomach all day long has also become much more comfortable, and I am no longer afraid to eat.

It has been about three months since I started treatment. Although I am still receiving treatment, I can definitely feel my physical condition improving. Since the diarrhea has largely subsided, I am no longer losing weight and am recovering little by little, and my energy levels are much better than before. Most of all, I am most satisfied and happy that I no longer have to look for a restroom first when I go out. I feel glad I sought treatment back then. At first, I simply thought it was a side effect of enteritis, but it seems that prolonged diarrhea doesn't end as easily as one might think.
If you, like me, experience recurring diarrhea despite taking medication, and your condition is steadily deteriorating while you lose weight, I think it would be helpful to get a thorough examination of your gastrointestinal function and receive a medical consultation. Although my treatment isn't finished yet, I went from going to the bathroom 8 or 9 times a day just a few months ago to recovering enough to return to my daily life. I am leaving this review in the hopes that it might be of some help to those facing similar struggles.
